Sophrony Sakharov
Russian-British monk (1896-1993) — disciple and biographer of St. Silouan; theologian of hypostatic existence.
Archimandrite Sophrony was the disciple and biographer of St. Silouan the Athonite. His writings — particularly On Prayer and We Shall See Him As He Is — developed a deeply personal Orthodox theology centered on hypostatic existence: the human person made in the image of the Triune God is called to share in the divine life personally, not collectively. He founded the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Essex, England.
