Nomocannon
A collection of civil and ecclesiastical law — the Byzantine synthesis of imperial law and canon law.
A nomocannon (from nomos, law, and kanon, rule) is a collection combining imperial (civil) law and ecclesiastical canons — the Byzantine synthesis of the two legal systems. The most important Orthodox nomocannon is the Nomocanon in 14 Titles (Nomocanon of Photius), compiled in the 9th century by St. Photius of Constantinople, which organized the canons of the councils and the relevant imperial legislation. It remains foundational for Orthodox canon law.
