Feast

A liturgical celebration — see Feast; also Pentecost as the biblical Feast of Weeks (Shavuot).

Feast already defined. Additional note: in the Orthodox liturgical calendar, the term 'feast' (heorte) encompasses several theological categories: feasts of the Lord (Despotikes heortes), feasts of the Theotokos (Theometorikes heortes), and feasts of the saints. Each category has its own liturgical character, color, and rubrical treatment. The ranking of feasts (from Great Feast to simple commemoration) is one of the primary organizing principles of the Typikon.
