Cherubikon
The Cherubic Hymn — sung at the Great Entrance, identifying the congregation with the angelic orders.
The Cherubikon is sung during the Great Entrance: 'We who mystically represent the Cherubim, and who sing to the life-giving Trinity the thrice-holy hymn, let us now lay aside all earthly cares, that we may receive the King of all, who comes invisibly upborne by the angelic hosts.' The hymn frames the entrance of the gifts as a procession of the heavenly court and the worshipping congregation as the Cherubim themselves.
