Bogomilism
A medieval Balkan dualist heresy — the world was created by Satan; the material body is evil.
Bogomilism was a dualist heresy that arose in Bulgaria in the 10th century and spread through the Balkans and into Western Europe (where it influenced Catharism). The Bogomils held that the material world was created by the evil principle (identified with the God of the Old Testament or with Satan), that marriage and procreation were sinful (since they produced more material bodies), and that salvation consisted in the liberation of the spiritual soul from the material prison. Condemned repeatedly by Orthodox councils.
