Akribeia
Strictness — the exact application of canonical rules without pastoral accommodation.
Akribeia (from 'to be precise') is the canonical principle of applying the Church's rules exactly as written, without pastoral accommodation. It is the complement to economia: where economia applies the rule with pastoral flexibility, akribeia insists on the letter when the integrity of the faith requires it. Neither is superior in the abstract; wise discernment recognizes when each is appropriate.
